Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Besides undertaking the teaching learning activities and research activities, the department established along with the MBBS course in 1994 has a prime role in hospital services.
The postgraduate course which started from 1999, offers excellent academic environment in form of regular teaching learning activities (case presentations, topic review, Journal presentations, Seminars, Group Discussions and Clinical Ground Round) and adequate clinical exposure in diversity and frequency of cases. The service department runs regular OPDs, Immunization clinics, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Emergency Services, Labour room and Major/minor/day care OTS and Maternal ICU services. It also provides Comprehensive Abortion Care services, cervical cancer screening and participated in many community oriented health camps and outreaches.
The department also regularly conducts various workshops and seminars related to maternal health care, safe motherhood and safe abortion practices. It also has recently added 2 new buildings for Maternal and Child Healthcare (MCH). The department is continuing the obstetric fistula treatment programme in collaboration with GSF. It has further plans to start Centre for Infertility and Urogynecology and start fetal medicine services.
