About the Department
The Cardiology department trains doctor in Post-Doctoral Program (DM) in Cardiology. The DM residents take care of patients' directly in Cardiology ward, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiology OPDs and also attend to consultations from other departments in the hospital. The DM Cardiology residents are also acquired to do presentations independently to colleagues during morning sessions. They participate in interdepartmental academic activities & are also encouraged to do research, publications & presentations in various scientific forum. They are also required to do a prospective study during their post-doctoral training.
Routine in-patient services are provided to patients admitted in the Cardiology ward, Coronary care Unit (CCU), Initial clinical evaluation of the patient, diagnostic work-up, clinical decision-making and therapeutic interventions are carried out under the supervision of the faculty members. Analysis of the sign and symptoms, clinical decision-making and minor intervention procedures are taught to the interns, house physician & Junior’s Resident when posted. In addition, an opinion on cardiac problems for patients admitted under other specialties is provided via routine and urgent consultations.
